What is Eucalyptus Oil?

Its healing power comes from eucalyptus oil extracted from the oval leaves of the tree. The leaves are dried, crushed and distilled to release the essential oils. Once the oil is extracted, it must be diluted before it can be used as medicine.

Where does it come from?

Eucalyptus trees native to Australia are now grown around the world and are used for their medicinal properties.

    Why is it used?

Eucalyptus oil creates a unique cooling effect when applied to the skin (along with a carrier oil). This cooling effect can help reduce the sensation of muscle pain. (Lakhan et al., 2016)

Eucalyptus oil can also reduce inflammation, which contributes to muscle pain. Research suggests that eucalyptus oil eases joint pain. In fact, many over-the-counter ointments and creams used to relieve pain caused by symptoms such as osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis contain this essential oil.
Eucalyptus oil helps reduce pain and inflammation associated with many medical conditions. It may also be helpful for people with back pain or recovering from joint or muscle injury. (Ali et al., 2015)

Eucalyptus tea may also offer some anti-inflammatory effects. (Panche et al., 2016)

    What are the benefits?

oil essential eucalyptus, primarily eucalyptus globose, helps relieve symptoms related to asthma, sinusitis, bronchitis and cough. It can also ease cold and flu symptoms, earaches, sore throats and muscle aches.
