No French qualified for the final stages of the Major of Antwerp

The Antwerp competition did not smile on the French. For the first time since 2017, there will be no French in the playoffs! G2 Esports and Team Vitality , the last two participating teams of this counter strike Major with French players in their teams, did not qualify for the quarter-finals.

A disappointing Vitality team

Vitality was eliminated from the tournament by Heroic. A notch below its opponent in all areas, the French team finished, as in 2019 during the Major of Katowice, at the 9th place .

Vitality went through two different phases during this Major. First, winning, reassuring, especially during the Challengers Stage, where the club faced weaker teams. We were also able to see the synergy of this new effective gradually improving since its introduction in January.

However, Vitality then went through a darker, chaotic and irregular phase. Like last Saturday on the first day of the group stage, where Vitality players showed a insufficient level of play, and where all five players struggled to play well at the same time. In the end, this ninth place is encouraging for this workforce which seeks to improve and which is still progressing, but just as frustrating, because the participating players are used to being in the race for the final victory.

G2 Esports not up to the occasion

Just like Vitality, G2 Esports brought some changes to its workforce earlier this year. Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov, a young Russian player, and Aleksi “Aleksib” Virolainen, a talented Finnish player, have joined the ranks of the team G2 Esports. Beaten in the final in the final by the formation of Natus Vincere, too strong for the G2 club, they now had the ambition to finally win the Major trophy.

However, despite a satisfactory first round, the team of Rémy “XTQZZZ” Quoniam also stopped before the final stages, beaten by the Brazilian team FURIA on Tuesday. However, still in full reconstruction, the G2 Esports club showed a lot of positive things at IEM Katowice at the end of February, for example. This time again the step was still too high for the team.
